Next Generation-Auckland Domain

This gym was simply glorious.
You walk in the front doors to the freshness that comes with having been open to the public only one week. The reception area is clean and inviting, with a stack of towels behind the counter for the 'premium' membership holders to use for their workouts...need I say more about the caliber of this place?? I will anyhow... :)
On the ground level is located the full restaurant and bar facility along with a lovely open-plan seating arrangement with chairs and tables both inside and out. Outside the doors to this area are the tennis courts...and adjacent to this lounge area are computers for client use along with further seating. From here you move into the changing rooms....these are fully equipped with hardryers and straighteners for the girls, along with a swimsuit dryer for the convenience of not having to replace wet items into sports bags....oh the luxury!! The changing rooms also have the obvious facilities such as showers, toilets and lockers-all of the most aesthetically pleasing variety.
Out the other end of these changing rooms is the first pool facility. Here there is a lane pool, 2 hydrotherapy pools and the sauna and steam rooms. Adjacent to this room is another room for the premium membership holders with two spas, tropical showers, an ice room, and private sauna and steam room. Everything was laid out in a very tastefully stylish manner.
Upstairs then is the gym facility. The equpiment brand used is LifeFitness-again my fave-and Hammer Strength. There is plenty of cardio equipment for a large gym, so many weights machines I can't even imagine where the muscles it takes to use them are hiding in the body...a sprint track down one wall, and a boxing room, along with the usual free weights. There is also a smaller section reserved as the womens only gym which contains machines specifically designed for women, plus the privacy of a partition between this area and the main gym. All equipment is obviously of the newest variety and adequate cleaning products were provided for use along with water fountains for refilling drink bottles and drinking from. There were windows on 2 sides of the gym which provided pleasant views of the surrounding domain and city areas.
Upsatairs again to the rooftop pool....yes a lap pool on the roof with a fabulous wee view, not to mention further courts up there too for your playing pleasure.
The membership options for this gym include full-which encorporated the use of pool, gym and tennis facilities, or an option which includes only the pool and gym facilities. There are then further options in terms of age-high school and tertiary student and individual or couple at adult age. Then there are further variations such as 'premium'-allowing access to the aforementioned extras, regular or 'off-peak'. This is the most expensive gym I have tried so far with prices between $58-$180 per fortnight depending on which membership combination you choose, there is also a $250 joining fee and $50 admin fee-all of which I think would be totally worth it if you can afford it to be honest. This is the sort of place you could go every day and spend as much time as you have spare both working out or relaxing.

  1. People must beware of this gym. Their membership handling is very poor. They will find all sorts of ways to take your money and give you few options to exercise your right to expect a service for the money that you do pay. I have not been able to attend this gym since October last year (about 7 months) and have paid $88/fortnight in that time. I have a 12 month contract and they will not let me out of it. They have a 3 month cancellation notice. All of these things are designed to get your money and hold on to it because they know that people in "real" life have all sorts of reasons for not being able to attend the gym. They are unreasonable people and will do everything they can do to take your money. All of their contracts are geared to ensure that no matter what they get their money. This is contrary to them supposedly being an organisation dedicated to our health and well being. I have also never had any inquiry from them with respect to my absence from the gym, let alone to someone with an attitude of "lets see what we can do"! Stay well clear of this gym.

  2. Thanks for the review exposing this gym for mistreating customers! My mate wanted to join it and i thought i will check the reviews and have stopped them for anything to do with the gym. They seem not have customers at heart.

  3. i backup the poor service. i have to prove my own payment with printing my direct debit after being accused of non payment. Upon receiving the print outs, they didn't even acknowledge let alone apologize. The only thing going for them is the facilities. However, if you can not be hassled by staff competency it is a great gym. However their systems and payment tracking is so bad that you'll have some run ins with them

  4. I back up the poor contract service continues. I signed for 12 months contract. Once contract got over they rolled it and continue to charge. whats the point of contract if i need to still give notice for cancellation. that also they wont email me the cancellation form i had to go there and complete it. They charge $70 fortnight but have no courtsey to give customer one call to confirm if we are happy to continue once the contract is over. They are happily charging us post contract, using tricy words

  5. The comment of Mark is right the customer service is so appalling way below standard, I ask for my card to be replace because it broke into half. Instead of fixing the problem they just insist me to pay 25.00 which I dont want to pay and I told them to cancel my membership but they dont want. For the receptionist and the manger I think you need to be train in customer service you even insulting me by saying "wow it cut in a straight line" its appalling so better work on your customer service first of all they should not even employ you if you treat your customer like that.

  6. I've accidentally left gear behind in a locker.... It's never been handed in. I would have thought the apparent 'high caliber' clientele attending this gym would be honest enough to hand in lost gear rather than steal them.
